Cockley House

Blakeney

A perfect blend of old and new, Cockley House is a superbly renovated period, brick and flint cottage set back off Morston Road, just a short walk from the centre of the sought-after coastal village of Blakeney, North Norfolk, and all of the amenities it offers. This pretty and spacious heritage cottage which overlooks Blakeney’s breathtaking Salt Marshes, has recently been remodelled and renovated throughout to a very high standard and the owners have furnished the cottage beautifully to make a comfortable and stylish, light, bright coastal retreat.

The majority of the ground floor of this very attractive cottage is a fantastic ‘L’ shaped open plan space that flows seamlessly from the custom built kitchen through to the well-proportioned dining area and one of the cottage’s two living areas. The gorgeous kitchen is very well equipped as you would expect, with a brushed stainless steel range cooker, large fridge freezer, dishwasher and wine fridge all integrated in to hand painted units below beautiful hardwood worktops. It also features a Nespresso machine for coffee lovers and a lovely large ‘butler’ sink that looks out on to the pretty, flint walled back garden. Just off the kitchen is a handy little boot room which houses the Bosch washer/drier, a second sink and draining board and provides useful extra storage. There is also a ground floor WC.

The hand painted dining table sits in front of large French doors that open out on to the lovely rear garden’s sheltered sun terrace. Six classic spindle back dining chairs tie in the dining area with the living area which features a spindle back ‘Ercol’ sofa and arm chair. These super modern-retro features, together with the ‘Scandi-style’ white painted floorboards throughout, give this lovely light and airy room a stylish modern feel.

Off an inner hallway is the good sized sitting room which has a lovely large comfy sofa and armchairs arranged around the main feature of the room the fantastic, cream coloured log burner. This is another light, bright room that effortlessly combines ‘modern retro’ styling with a classic country feel. There is a large smart LED T.V with a BluRay player for those cosy nights in, in-front of the fire with your favourite movies or boxsets. The curtains and blinds throughout are handmade with beautiful quality Vanessa Arbuthnott and St.Jude’s fabrics and all of the ground floor rooms benefit from a superb Sonos multi-room sound system.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms with three bathrooms offering flexible accommodation. The master bedroom has a king size bed and a lovely en-suite shower room with a drencher shower and a WC. The second bedroom has a super-king zip and link bed which can be split into two single beds if required (if you would like the room to be made up as a twin, please give us at least two weeks’ notice) and has a bathroom with large tub with drencher shower above. The third bedroom has a double bed and also benefits from a cleverly installed en-suite shower room. Both the king and double rooms enjoy lovely far reaching views out to sea across the salt marsh and Blakeney harbour. DAB radios are provided in each bedroom.

Outside, there are newly landscaped gardens both to the front and
rear so our guests will get the sun from morning to evening! Both gardens have lawn and terrace areas making them perfect for spending relaxing days sunbathing, playing outdoor games and enjoying BBQ’s and alfresco dining. The walled rear garden is equipped with a stylish high quality dining set and the owners have provided an outdoor table tennis table for guest use.

Cockley House is superbly located in Blakeney, it is only a few minutes walk from the coastal path and the centre of Blakeney Village yet is far Cockley backenough out not to be affected by the hustle and bustle giving it a more relaxed feel than properties right in the heart of the village. With gorgeous interiors, lovely gardens, far reaching sea views and parking for up to three cars along the lavender-lined gravel driveway, this fantastic property will no doubt become a popular addition to our portfolio of special places to stay in North Norfolk.
